Cartwright Announces $20,763 VA Grant for the Catholic Social Services Diocese of Scranton, Inc.
Washington – Today, U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright announced that the Catholic Social Services Diocese of Scranton, Inc. received a $20,763 grant from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for the purchase of a van, which would provide outreach and transportation to homeless veterans.
“We owe a debt of gratitude to our nation’s veterans. Eliminating veterans’ homelessness should be a national priority,” said Cartwright. “I am pleased that the VA chose to award the Catholic Social Services Diocese of Scranton, Inc. this essential grant. While a lot more needs to be done, this award is a good start in providing veterans with the resources necessary to achieve a better quality of life.”
The VA’s Homeless Providers Grant and Per Diem Program provides funds for local community agencies that provide services to homeless veterans. The program is a key component of the VA’s plan to eliminate homelessness among veterans.
