Cartwright Announces $41,000 USDA Rural Development grant and $80,200 loan to Delano Township
Pottsville, PA – Today, U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright announced that the Rural Development arm of the U.S. Department of Agriculture has awarded a $50,000 Community Facility Grant and $440,000 Community Facility Loan to Delano Township.
The Rural Development funds will be used to purchase two new vehicles; a Ford F-350 equipped with a snow plow and accessories, and a Ford F-550 dump truck with a snow plow and salt spreader.
“Rural communities need a government on their side when it comes to upgrading and maintaining critical infrastructure,” Rep. Cartwright said. “These federal funds will help keep families and businesses on the go by helping Delano Township clear roads and bridges of snow and debris when severe weather strikes.”
The purpose of the Community Facility grant and loan program is to provide affordable funding to develop essential community facilities in rural areas. “Essential community facility” is defined as a facility that provides an essential service to the local community for the orderly development of the community in a primarily rural area, and does not include private, commercial or business undertakings. Applicants must be governmental entities or non-profits, and the program is competitive, nationally.
