Cartwright Announces Obligation of $3 Million to LANta for Purchase of Nine Hybrid Buses
Washington – Today, U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright announced that $3 million has been obligated by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to the Lehigh and Northampton Transportation Authority (LANta). The Federal Transit Administration is the DOT agency disbursing the funds.
The grant will allow for the purchase of nine heavy duty, hybrid powered transit buses to be used by LANta, these vehicles will include 35-FT and 40-FT-models. The LANta project was selected on a competitive basis from the Bus Livability Initiative, and project selection was announced in August 2012.
“I’m pleased to see federal funding going to LANta for new hybrid buses,” said Cartwright. “These new buses will provide effective and energy-efficient transportation throughout Lehigh and Northampton counties.”
