Press Release

Wilkes-Barre, PA – Today, Representative Matt Cartwright announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Agency (HHS) awarded $1,793,347 to the Rural Health Corporation of Northeastern PA (RHC), in Wilkes-Barre. The funds will be used to maintain RHC’s current scope of health care services in its seven locations throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Rural Health Corporation provides comprehensive primary and preventive medical and dental services to residents of all income levels within their service area. Their efforts help provide healthcare to children, adolescents and adults. They offer many insurance options, which include most commercial insurances, CHIP, Medicare and Medical Assistance.

“This funding will continue to provide families and individuals in our communities with the preventive care and treatment they need to live healthy lives,” said Rep. Cartwright. “Community health centers remain a crucial part of our system to provide everyone with access to affordable, quality care. I applaud Rural Health Corporation for their service to our communities.

“We at the Rural Health Corporation of Northeastern Pennsylvania are thankful for the funds provided to us and the continued support from Congressman Matt Cartwright,” said Tiffany L. Tankalavage MHA, CEO of the Rural Health Corporation of Northeastern PA. “Without these grants, we would not have the necessary means to provide medical and dental services to our patients of all populations and most importantly those who are uninsured or underinsured. As our offices span seven different locations, we are very fortunate to have leaders like Congressman Cartwright on our side.”

It is the mission of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) to enhance and protect the health and well-being of all Americans. They fulfill that mission by providing for effective health and human services and fostering advances in medicine, public health, and social services.
