Ashley, PA – Today, U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright (PA-08) announced a $97,546 federal grant awarded through the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) to the Earth Conservancy to support one 18-month cycle of its Environmental Workforce Training (EWT) Program.

The EWT program will help at least 20 unemployed, underemployed or dislocated residents obtain new or enhanced employment. Local companies will also benefit from having new hires trained through this program who are ready for work on day one.

In addition to ARC funds, other federal sources will provide $15,525, state sources will provide $31,183 and local sources will provide $50,838, bringing the total project funding to $195,092. The ARC funding will provide an important supplement to local and state funding to allow the project to move forward.
