Following the PNRRA announcement, U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright (D-8) announced the formation of the Lackawanna Cut-Off Rail Restoration Caucus, a group of four federal lawmakers from Pennsylvania and New Jersey who will focus on restoring tracks to the last section of the route without them...

“Local economies in northeastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey will reap great economic rewards if we can put our regions back on the rail map. Reconnecting our areas with passenger or commuter rail will lead to more jobs, business growth, tourism and more, but we’ll only be able to get this done if leaders at all levels of government are on the same page,” Cartwright said. “This caucus will work together to keep up the growing momentum behind the long running effort to get trains running through our area once again.”
