Cartwright Sworn-In To The 116th Congress

Scranton, PA – Today, U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright released the following statement after being sworn-in to the 116th Congress:

“I was honored to be sworn-in today as a Member of 116th Congress. I’m looking forward to the next two years working with my colleagues to promote policies that will benefit and strengthen working-class families by creating jobs and rebuilding America.”

“Northeastern Pennsylvania reflects the make-up and spirit of much of the country. I understand both the hardships and the concerns that many rural and small-town Americans have. What would help is for the Congress to focus on infrastructure rebuilding, shoring up Social Security and Medicare without cuts, making health care more affordable, and reducing the high cost of prescription drugs. I will be a strong advocate for these and other policies geared to restore hope and opportunities for all.”

Cartwright is a member of the House Appropriations Committee, serving on the Subcommittees for Commerce-Justice-Science and Financial Services & General Government. Cartwright is also a member of the House Leadership, serving as Co-Chair of the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee and a member of the Steering and Policy Committee.

This will be Rep. Cartwright’s fourth term representing Northeastern Pennsylvania but his first term representing the new PA-08 congressional district which includes Lackawanna, Wayne, and Pike Counties and portions of Luzerne and Monroe Counties.
