Military Academy Nominations

Every year, as a Member of Congress, I have the distinct honor of nominating young men and women from Pennsylvania’s 8th Congressional District to the elite United States Service Academies.

Service academies offer young Americans the opportunity to serve our country while receiving an excellent education. Upon graduation, a minimum of five years of service is required.

Members of Congress may nominate candidates for appointment to four of the five U.S. service academies: U.S. Military Academy (USMA), West Point, N.Y.; the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), Annapolis, Maryland; the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA), Colorado Springs; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), Kings Point, N.Y.

The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA), New London, Connecticut, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.

For more information on the congressional nomination process for constituents of Pennsylvania's 8th Congressional District, please review my packet of Frequently Asked Questions that includes specific instructions and an application checklist.
