Cartwright Announces Over $1 Million in HHS Funds for Scranton Primary Health Care Center Inc.

Today, U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright announced that Scranton Primary Health Care Center Inc. received $1,321,672 in federal funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The funds support critical health services for underinsured and uninsured residents.

Established in 1978, Scranton Primary Health Care Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center, offers quality primary medical and dental care at a reasonable cost to all persons in the community, including those who are underinsured and uninsured, regardless of their ability to pay. In 2017, Scranton Primary opened a new satellite clinic in South Scranton, where they are able offer family medicine as part of their continued service to the community.

“Local health centers play an important role in providing essential services to children and families in our communities,” said Rep. Cartwright. “I continue to be a strong advocate for federal funding that ensures the Scranton Primary Health Care Center, and other centers across Northeastern Pennsylvania, will have what they need to continue the critical work they do.”

"On behalf of Scranton Primary Health Care, we are extremely grateful to Congressman Matt Cartwright for his assistance and support in helping us obtain our continued funding,” said Executive Director Joseph H. Hollander, Scranton Primary Health Care Center.

It is the mission of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) to enhance and protect the health and well-being of all Americans. They fulfill that mission by providing for effective health and human services and fostering advances in medicine, public health, and social services.
