Cartwright Re-Elected to Second Term in House Democratic Leadership

U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright (PA-08) today was re-elected by his Democratic colleagues to serve a second term as a co-chair of the House Democratic Policy and Communications Committee (DPCC). With the elimination of the DPCC chair position, Cartwright’s re-election as co-chair elevates him from ninth to eighth-highest ranking member of the House Democratic Caucus.

“I’m happy to move up a rung in the House Leadership team, and I’m grateful to my colleagues for again placing their confidence in me to help shape and deliver our Caucus’s message in the 117th Congress,” Cartwright said. “The story of Northeastern Pennsylvania is the story of so many places across America. We have a proud working-class industrial heritage, and we’ve endured our share of economic hardship. This perspective is just one of many that makes up our diverse party. Through DPCC, I will continue working to ensure it is represented as we set an agenda to lift up all Americans.”

Cartwright was re-elected to DPCC alongside U.S. Reps. Debbie Dingell (MI-12) and Ted Lieu (CA-33). U.S. Rep. Joe Neguse (CO-02) was elected to his first term as a DPCC co-chair.

The DPCC is tasked with developing a Caucus-wide message that forcefully communicates where House Democrats stand, that resonates with hardworking Americans, and that presents a sharp contrast to House Republicans’ special interest-first agenda.
