Scranton, Brooke Williams, January 29, 2021

Five fire companies in Pennsylvania’s eighth congressional district will receive more than $56,000 in COVID-19 relief funds.

In Lackawanna County, Clarks Summit Fire Company No. 1 will be awarded $5,727.62, while $18,095 will go to William Walker Hose Company in Jermyn, according to U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright.

This funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency Assistance to Firefighters Grant – COVID-19 Supplemental Program Round 2 can be used for personal protective equipment and essential supplies.

“I often think of the men and women who serve in our fire companies and their families as I continue to push for more support for our safety infrastructure and local governments during this crisis,” Cartwright, D-8, Moosic, said in a press release.
