Cartwright Announces NEPA Community Health Centers to Receive $11.7 Million in American Rescue Plan Funding to Expand Access to COVID-19 Vaccines

Eighth Congressional District, PA – Today, U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright (PA-08) announced that three Northeastern Pennsylvania Community Health Centers will receive a total of $11.7 million in American Rescue Plan funds to expand their COVID-19 vaccination and treatment operations. The resources are part of a $6 billion investment authorized by the American Rescue Plan to expand access to vaccines in underserved communities.

Northeastern Pennsylvania-based federal community health centers receiving funds:

  • Rural Health Corporation of Northeastern Pennsylvania: $2,893,125
  • Scranton Primary Health Care Center Inc.: $2,480,125
  • Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers: $6,326,750

“Our Community Health Centers have been critical players in our response to COVID-19,” said Rep. Cartwright. “More help is on the way to them through the American Rescue Plan so they can redouble their efforts to get more shots in arms and save more lives from this pandemic.”

The health centers can use the funding to expand COVID-19 vaccinations, testing and treatment for vulnerable populations; deliver preventive and primary health care services to people at higher risk for COVID-19; and expand health centers’ operational capacity during the pandemic and beyond, including modifying and improving physical infrastructure and adding mobile units.
