Today, U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright (PA-08) made the following statement on Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s confirmation to the Supreme Court of the United States: 

“Congratulations to Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson on her elevation to our nation’s highest court and for securing her place in United States’ history. Yesterday was a day of great pride in America, and I celebrate her well-deserved moment.” 

The Congressman cited the newest member of the Supreme Court’s broad experience across the legal profession – as a federal appellate judge, a federal district court judge, a member of the U.S. Sentencing Commission, an attorney in private practice and as a federal public defender. 

“As a lawyer myself, I recognize the importance of confirming a Justice who has an unwavering dedication to the rule of law, who is wise and pragmatic, and who has a deep understanding of the Constitution,” he said. “I applaud yesterday’s historic confirmation proceedings in the Senate.”
