“It is a big, big morning ... it’s something that we’ve had in the works for quite some time,” Congressman Matt Cartwright said at a news conference Monday for the project. “Margaritaville and Jimmy Buffett -- you will be able to come and enjoy a ‘Cheeseburger in Paradise’ here in the Poconos.”

Congressman Cartwright says “the whole idea that trains full of customers and tourists coming to this area to spend their money, there’s no doubt that idea is spurring this kind of economic activity already.”

"You can see the excitement. The economic buzz is already occurring before we even start," Rep. Matt Cartwright (D) said.

“We were going to do this tomorrow, but we decided to have you come Monday,” said Cartwright, referring to “Come Monday,” Buffett’s first national hit song. ”You will be able to come and enjoy a cheeseburger in paradise here in the Poconos,” Cartwright said, referring to beloved Buffett song.

"The economic impacts ... would be incredible," Cartwright said. "I've always said it would attract business and families to the Pocono Mountains. He said a New-York-to-Scranton Amtrak line, with stops along the way, would have an $87 million annual impact.

“This transformation of Pocono Manor into a Margaritaville Resort Village propels us toward a goal of bringing more people to the Poconos for both work and play," Cartwright said. "Imagine what a landscape where people are able to get here by train from New York, New Jersey and even Scranton would be like."

The mission will carry extra and better-paying jobs, whereas honoring the reminiscence of Pocono Manor and in giant measure rebuild it, Cartwright stated.

“USDA is about rural America and getting its fair share of the federal pie,” Cartwright said. “That’s what Rural Development is all about. The $10.5 million went to Pennsylvania, which makes it the second largest recipient of these funds in the United States.”

Torres Small thanked U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright, D-Moosic, who was on hand for the announcement, for his vision in doing the work for the grant.
