Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville chain to open resort, RV park in Poconos

The Scranton Times-Tribune

“We were going to do this tomorrow, but we decided to have you come Monday,” said Cartwright, referring to “Come Monday,” Buffett’s first national hit song. ”You will be able to come and enjoy a cheeseburger in paradise here in the Poconos,” Cartwright said, referring to beloved Buffett song.

Margaritaville, the growing resort chain co-owned by pop singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett, plans to spend $1.3 billion developing a sprawling Poconos resort village expected to open by mid-2024, officials said Monday.

The village will include a hotel, Buffett song-themed restaurants and bars, a recreational vehicle park, bungalows, townhomes, cottages and other amenities. “Margaritaville” is the title of Buffett’s best-known song.

The resort will donate land for a passenger train station to attract a stop on the proposed Amtrak route between Scranton and New York City.

”This transformation of Pocono Manor into a Margaritaville Resort Village propels us toward a goal of bringing more people to the Poconos for both work and play. Talk about changes in attitudes,” Cartwright said, the last sentence a line borrowed from another Buffett song.
