Easton, PA,
November 23, 2015
Today, U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright announced that the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) has awarded Monroe County a $110,000 grant. The funds will be used towards the Monroe County Energy Conservation and Efficiency Initiative. The proposed project is expected to benefit residents by further minimizing the need for tax increases. “The funding for the Energy Conservation and Efficiency Initiative is a victory for the environment and the residents of Monroe County,” said Rep. Cartwright. The project calls for the implementation of energy and water conservation measures to save over 300,000 gallons of water and reduce operational costs by $23,544 annually. The initiative will include numerous energy and water conservation measures at the Monroe County Courthouse, Administration building, and the Detectives Building. In addition to ARC funding, Monroe County will provide $110,000, bringing the total project funding to $220,000. Technical assistance was provided by the Northeastern Pennsylvania Alliance’s Energy Resource Center to help county officials evaluate facility and building technology options that would maximize the potential for energy and cost savings. |
