Cartwright Statement on U.S. Surpassing 200,000 COVID-19 Deaths
Eighth Congressional District, PA,
September 22, 2020
U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright today made the following statement after the U.S. recorded its 200,000th American life lost to COVID-19: “We grieve the unfathomable 200,000 American lives lost to this deadly virus, and we mourn with the families who survive them. The coronavirus pandemic has taken away loved ones, jobs and livelihoods, and the passage of today’s grim milestone is a reminder of why it’s long past time for a strong and sustained national response,” Cartwright said. “We can’t afford any longer to let states fend for themselves and compete against each other to address the ongoing public health and economic challenges we still face, especially as the fall threatens to bring another deadly COVID-19 wave. I will continue to push for a nationally coordinated effort to get the economic relief, testing, tracing, and PPE resources where they are needed to keep Americans safe and get our economy fully running again.” |
