Two local fire companies are benefiting from COVID-19 emergency relief funds. Congressman Matt Cartwright announced that $15,000 will be given to four departments in the 8th District. The Green Dreher Volunteer Fire Association in Newfoundland will get about $5,300 and the Northern Wayne Fire Company in Lakewood is slated for about $2,900. These funds will go towards PPE and related supplies to help the first responders deal with COVID-19. This is the second round of funding from FEMA for PPE through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant – COVID-19 Supplemental Program.
