House-passed infrastructure bill would fund 2 Monroe County projects

Pocono Record

The U.S. House on Thursday passed a bill that includes $6 million for road and bridge projects in Monroe County, among other funding for infrastructure in northeast Pennsylvania and the Lehigh Valley.

“This bill is to help us modernize our roads, our bridges, our rail systems, our water systems, our sewer systems, all of these things that we’ve been disinvesting in for an awfully long time,” said U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright (D-8) Wednesday in a press call with several Pennsylvania Democrats, including U.S. Rep. Susan Wild (D-7).

“There is no time to waste on this, because with every passing day, we see the disastrous consequences of delaying further. We urgently need to fix the roads and bridges that we literally see crumbling around the country,” Wild said.
