Union members celebrate Labor Day in Scranton

"This is a day we deserve. We're united as labor and we're going to stay united," Rosemary Boland said Monday.

There were passionate words throughout the morning as union members celebrated Labor Day with an annual event in Scranton, honoring the American labor movement.

"We are a world away from where we were," representative Kyle Mullins (D- Peckville) said.

A world away after fighting for decades. "Fighting for healthcare, for weekends, for a 40-hour work week," Mullins said.

Representatives from the area showed up in support for union members, including Scranton mayor Paige Cognetti, Mullins, state senator Marty Flynn, representatives Brigit Kosierowski and Mike Carroll, U.S. representative Matt Cartwright and U.S. Senator Bob Casey.
