“The people and businesses of Pittston are incredibly appreciative that our downtown revitalization project has been selected as one of Congressman Cartwright’s Community Project Funding designees,” Pittston Mayor Michael Lombardo said. “Businesses here see the economic value this new performing arts center will bring as it rounds out the long-time vision we’ve had for our downtown.”
Congressman Matt Cartwright (PA-08) today announced the Community Project Funding designations – totaling $61 million – he submitted to the Appropriations Committee for federal fiscal year 2023. Highlights include a new research facility for the University of Scranton; a new theater and performing arts center in downtown Pittston; new construction at the Pocono Mountains Municipal Airport; the expansion of health and human services for at-risk women, children and the elderly; much-needed infrastructure upgrades in the form of water treatment, flood protection and paving projects; and multiple funding projects in support of law enforcement, police and emergency responders.
