Amtrak: Scranton-NY rail service would generate $87M every year

U.S. Sen. Bob Casey and U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright Wednesday said they are leading a large coalition of regional partners from Pennsylvania and New Jersey in urging the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) to reestablish direct passenger rail service between Scranton and New York.

Casey, D-Scranton, and Cartwright, D-Moosic, sent letters to FRA Administrator Amit Bose, calling for a “once-in-a-generation investment” to bring a vital, long-overdue rail infrastructure project to fruition for the people of Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Casey, Cartwright and their partners emphasized their commitment to seeing rail service from Scranton to New York fully restored to boost local economies in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
