Cartwright announces $154,000 for minority-owned small businesses

“A thriving and diverse business community is not only essential to the economic prosperity of our region, but also makes our cities and towns more exciting and attractive places to live and work,” Cartwright said

U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright, D-8, Moosic, announced Thursday that $154,000 in funding will be awarded to minority-owned small businesses in Luzerne County.

The funding will go to the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce from the Appalachian Regional Commission for the Connect Inclusive Program, Cartwright said in a news release.

The funding supports 40 “disadvantaged business enterprises,” 14 communities and 100 participants in Luzerne County by offering support and training for business owners to promote their economic success and growth, he said.
