Cartwright retains Appropriations Committee seat

Standard Speaker

U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright will remain on the powerful House Appropriations Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies Subcommittee.

Cartwright, D-8, Moosic, will be the subcommittee’s top-ranked Democrat. He was subcommittee chairman in the last Congress, but Republicans won control of the House. Rep. Harold “Hal” Rogers, R-5, Kentucky, will serve as chairman.

In a statement, Cartwright said he was “grateful that Northeastern Pennsylvania will continue to have this kind of clout in Washington for the 118th Congress.”

During the last Congress, Cartwright said he directed almost $73 million in funding to the district. Cartwright will also serve as the second-ranked Democrat of the Appropriations Financial Services and General Government Subcommittee.
