Cartwright to address Friendly Sons

The Scranton Times-Tribune

U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright will be the principal speaker at the dinner of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick of Lackawanna County.

Cartwright, a Democrat from Moosic who represents the 8th Congressional District, will deliver remarks during the society’s 117th assembly March 18 at Mohegan Pennsylvania in Plains Twp., said Albert P. O’Donnell, society president.

Cartwright, a lawyer who took office in 2013, has authored 12 bills signed into law by three presidents.

He is dean of the Pennsylvania House Democratic delegation, a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, and ranking member of the Commerce, Justice and Science Subcommittee. He is second-ranking Democrat on the Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Subcommittee.

Cartwright was ranked No. 1 in Pennsylvania two years in a row for securing federal project dollars for his district and in 2022, his return total was 10th out of 435 congressional districts.

He recently completed four years in House leadership as co-chairman of the House Democratic Policy and Communications Committee. He remains a member of the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee, which makes committee assignments for all Congressional Democrats.
