Congressman Matt Cartwright formally announced PENNDOT’s application to get Federal money for a train from Scranton to New York.

The money would come from a grant passed in the bipartisan infrastructure act and would fund 80% of the project.

PENNDoT is working with New Jersey Transit on the application.

“Amtrak has estimated that the economic benefit every year would be an additional 84 million dollars in economic activity," said Congressman Cartwright (D-PA 8).
