One big deadline down, another less than two months away.

PennDOT Press Secretary Alexis Campbell confirmed Monday in an email that the agency filed the application with the Federal Railroad Administration.

FRA spokesman Cory Gattie said in an email that agency policy forbids confirming or commenting on applications before a selection process ends.

“The official submission of the Corridor ID application marks a major milestone in our region’s history,” Cartwright said in a statement. “This is the moment so many have been working toward, and I am so excited we’ve reached this point in our collective efforts to get passenger trains rolling again from Scranton to New York City.”
