“As a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, I’ll always stand with our police and support their work to keep our communities safe,” Cartwright said.

The Dallas Twp. Police Department will receive a $250,000 federal grant to hire two new police officers. The funding, announced Wednesday by U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright, D-8, Moosic, is through the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services hiring program.

Dallas Twp. police is one of only 394 agencies across the country to receive this funding.

“As a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, I’ll always stand with our police and support their work to keep our communities safe,” Cartwright said. “In Congress, I’ll continue fighting to bring these federal resources home to support local law enforcement and all emergency first responders.”

Dallas Twp. police Chief Doug Higgins thanked the congressman.

“The key to our success is our community and we’re grateful for Congressman Cartwright’s efforts to bring federal funding back to Northeast Pennsylvania,” Higgins said. “This award will allow us to further engage officers with the community, a vital part of community policing.”
