Federal funding to go towards improving public housing in parts of Poconos

Housing authorities can use the funds to complete large-scale improvements such as replacing roofs or making energy-efficient upgrades to heating systems and installing water conservation measures, Cartwright's office says.

 Parts of the Poconos are getting a financial boost from the federal government to help improve public housing.

U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright (PA-08) said more than $17 million will help build, renovate and modernize public housing across Northeast Pennsylvania.

The Monroe County Housing Authority will receive $894,564, while the Hazleton Housing Authority will get $768,190, according to a news release from Cartwright's office.
