An emergency services building set to open in September 2025 will provide a permanent home for the borough's Police Department and safer access for its Fire Department. A groundbreaking ceremony was held Monday behind the existing Greenwood Hose Co. 1 firehouse on Birney Avenue, where the new, approximately 18,000-square-foot facility will be built. The old building will be demolished upon completion of the new one. The approximately $5.7 million cost of the project is being financed through state, local and private grants, including $3 million in Community Project Funding secured by U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright, D-8, Moosic. |
