U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright on Wednesday said the F-35 Lightning II is not just another stealth fighter — he said it’s the most advanced, the most lethal, the most survivable, and the most cost-effective fighter in the world. Cartwright, a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, stressed the importance of continued funding for production of F-35's.

"It makes me proud to get the money I get to support what they are up to, referencing $2,384,064 for HPD equipment and technology upgrades part of five Community Project Funding requests Cartwright submitted to the House Appropriations Committee for consideration for the fiscal year 2025."

The $3 million Community Project Funding, secured by Rep. Cartwright, will support the construction of a new, centrally located facility that will surpass the capacity of existing facilities and adequately serve and protect the borough by bringing fire and police services together under one roof.

"One of the ways we accomplish safety in our community is having adequately staffed and equipped emergency and first-response services," Cartwright said.

Beardsley said the airport is thankful to Cartwright and his staff for all of their hard work on this issue.
