Cartwright Announces over $1.5m in Funds for Scranton-Lackawanna Head Start

On Wednesday, U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright (PA-08) announced over $1.5 million in federal funding for Scranton-Lackawanna County Head Start, which will be used to continue providing comprehensive early education programs to children in Northeastern Pennsylvania. “Early education is vital to preparing our children for the challenges ahead,” said Rep. Cartwright, a member of the Appropriations Committee. “These funds are a direct investment in the future of our country. I commend Scranton-Lackawanna Head Start for their dedication to enhancing the quality of life for children and families in Northeastern Pennsylvania.” The funding, which totals $1,554,673, is provided by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Head Start is a national program created in 1965 to address the educational and developmental needs of low-income, pre-school children. Head Start’s comprehensive service system provides social, nutritional, and educational services for thousands of children and their families across the United States. |
