President Trump Signs Cartwright Bill to Save Taxpayer Dollars

Today, President Trump signed into law U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright’s Eliminating Government-funded Oil-painting (EGO) Act. The EGO Act prohibits the use of federal funds to pay for portraits of government officials.

“Every dollar the government spends on vanity projects for federal officials is a dollar that is not spent improving the lives of hardworking Americans,” said Rep. Cartwright, an Appropriations Committee member. “It’s just wrong to spend taxpayer dollars on portraits the public will never see.”

Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) introduced the EGO Act in the Senate.
