“The American people deserve a government that works for them,” Cartwright said. “I’m committed to working with Members on both sides of the aisle to advance the bipartisan legislation to keep the federal government working for hardworking families, seniors, and members of the military in Northeast Pennsylvania. We should reject outlier demands and find common ground.”
U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright requested Friday that his pay be withheld if there’s a federal government shutdown. “A federal government shutdown would have devastating consequences, including undermining national security and forcing servicemembers around the world to work without pay. … Kids and families will be cut off from food assistance; critical services like food inspections will be interrupted; small businesses will be hurt; and emergency response efforts will be thwarted should additional catastrophic disasters occur,” Cartwright, D-8, Moosic, wrote in a letter to House Chief Administrative Officer Catherine Szpindor. |
