WILKES-BARRE, PA—Congressman Matt Cartwright encourages all interested residents of Northeastern Pennsylvania to join him in welcoming Piotr Wilczek, Ambassador of Poland to the United States, as he visits Wilkes University. The ambassador’s discussion, which is free of charge and open to the public, is titled “An Overview of Polish-American Relations.” The university-sponsored event will be held Monday, October 22. When: 7 p.m. Where: 2nd Floor Ballroom Henry Student Center 84 W. South St., Wilkes-Barre Date: October 22 Ambassador Wilczek is a literary scholar, intellectual historian, writer and translator. He graduated in 1986 from the University of Silesia in Katowice, where he also received his doctorate and post-doctorate degrees. Recruited by his alma mater, he remained there until 2008 as a professor and faculty dean. His interests include comparative literature, philology, and intellectual history that form the culture and geography of knowledge across time. In 2006, he received the title of professor of the humanities from the President of the Republic of Poland. He has served as the Ambassador of Poland to the United States since 2016. ### |
