U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright (PA-08) today announced that more than 6.5 million Economic Impact Payments totaling $15.2 billion have been delivered to hardworking people across Pennsylvania through the American Rescue Plan that Rep. Cartwright helped pass in March 2021.
“The American Rescue Plan put money right into the pockets of hardworking Pennsylvanians to help them get by as we worked to change the course of COVID-19,” said Rep. Cartwright. “This relief helped families cover basic expenses and kept our economy going so we could get people back in jobs. Now, more Americans are back to work and our economy is on the rebound, thanks to the American Rescue Plan.”
THE AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN: HELP IS HERE
Shots In Arms
More than 150 million Americans are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. More than two-thirds of adults in the U.S. have received at least one dose. Over 430,000 Pennsylvanians in the counties that comprise Pennsylvania’s Eighth Congressional District have received at least one vaccine dose.
The American Rescue Plan also sent $6 billion to local Community Health Centers to help them distribute vaccines. Northeastern Pennsylvania Community Health Centers together received $11.7 million in American Rescue Plan funds.
Money In Pockets
New data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis show that personal income rose in all 50 states and D.C. in the first quarter of this year.
More than 163 million Economic Impact Payments, totaling nearly $390 billion have made their way into the hands of hardworking Americans this year. $15.2 billion has gone to more than 6.5 million Pennsylvanians.
Monthly Child Tax Credit Payments of up to $300 per child will start hitting bank accounts July 15 for nearly all hardworking families. That’s roughly 39 million households, covering almost 90 percent of children nationwide. In Pennsylvania’s Eighth District, an estimated 126,100 children, or 90 percent of all children in the district, will benefit from the expanded and improved Child Tax Credit.
Children In Schools
The American Rescue Plan invested $130 billion to help schools reopen safely, stay open safely and make up for lost learning time. More than $250 million has been allocated for schools in the Pennsylvania Eighth District counties.
The American Rescue Plan also sent $45 billion to help states keep child care and Head Start programs open, keep workers on the job and lower costs for working families. Pennsylvania has received $1.2 billion from this fund.
People In Jobs
The economy is growing faster than at any time in the last 40 years. The President’s and Congressional Democrats’ recovery plan has helped create 2 million jobs since January and cut unemployment claims in half.
