Agency honors Cartwright with award

The Scranton Times-Tribune

A local services agency honored U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright on Tuesday with an award for distinguished public service.

Maternal and Family Health Services gave Cartwright the award for helping the agency secure $2.1 million in federal funding for its new Circle of Care program. Offered at Scranton and Hazleton sites, the program provides expanded, comprehensive prenatal, obstetric, postpartum and newborn care services.

The agency hosted a grand opening Tuesday of its South Scranton location.

In a statement, Cartwright, D-8, Moosic, said the program will ensure "at-risk and low-income pregnant women have access to quality prenatal and postnatal care" along with other critical support services.
