$1.6B federal investment in high speed internet expansion announced

Times Leader

U.S. Sens. Bob Casey and John Fetterman, along with U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright, announced on Monday that Pennsylvania is receiving $1,161,778,272 from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to expand high-speech internet access across Pennsylvania.

This funding, part of President Joe Biden’s “Internet for All” initiative, brings Pennsylvania’s total of federal funding under the Biden Administration for high-speed internet to $1,776,854,539.

“Now more than ever, the need for broadband to connect businesses with new markets and new customers is essential for businesses in rural areas of our district,” said Cartwright, D-Moosic. “Unfortunately, too many of these small and medium-sized businesses don’t have the digital tools they need to grow and prosper. This investment in America, and specifically rural Pennsylvania, is a game changer when it comes to getting connected to affordable and reliable high-speed broadband internet at home, at work, and in our schools.”
