An astronaut landed in Luzerne County on Tuesday.

Bob Hines, a 1993 graduate of Crestwood High School, visited Pittston Area High School and the WVIA studios following an invitation from U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright, D-8, of Moosic.

“It’s a great opportunity to be back here,” Hines said Tuesday during a break between events at WVIA. “Growing up around here — the family, friends, the teachers, the mentors — they helped shape me into who I am. They taught me the work ethic and the determination I needed to overcome different obstacles and encouraged me to go after things even if they were big goals and dreams.”
